LYCHAKIVSKYJ TSVYNTAR, MUZEJ-ZAPOVIDNYK

We perform the functions of protection of historical, cultural and art monuments on the territory of Lychakiv Cemetery.

Lychakiv cemetery, which in the middle of the XIX century. was transformed into a park, gradually became a kind of museum of tomb sculpture and open-air architecture. Now it is a museum on an area of ​​42 hectares on the territory of which there are burials of more than 400 thousand people.

From the first years of its foundation, famous, noble, and rich people - figures of culture, art, science and the entire political and administrative elite of the capital of the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria - were buried here.

There are sculptures and architectural structures of famous masters: Hartmann Witver, the Shimzer brothers, Pavel Evtele, Henryk Perrier, Julian Markovsky, Ivan Levynsky, Hryhoriy Kuznevych, Serhiy Lytvynenko, Yevhen Dzyndra, Theodosia Bryzh, Yakov Chaika, Eman. The masterpieces that came out from under their chisel adorn the graves of people of different nationalities - Ukrainians, Poles, Austrians, Germans, Armenians and many others.
